Shape's Board
I am still asked what it is that Shape does.
In reply, I say we are small, but we are special. To be a
specialist provider of supported housing working, in particular,
with vulnerable young people and the homeless is complex,
increasingly challenging but is significant.
Typically in a year we will help over 100
single homeless people, approximately 50 single parents and another
50 couples and around 20 homeless families. In addition, the
Outreach service will help 50 young people a year and our floating
support service another 40.
Our help is more than bricks and mortar, not
just a roof over heads. It is the added value that we achieve by
working together and supporting our residents that we think makes
us special.

organisations contributes to the Board’s role of managing SHA.
Shirley Beauchamp
Shirley Beauchamp
is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and has worked in
social housing for 25 years, in both a local authority and
registered social landlord context. She has worked in a range of
roles covering homelessness, housing needs, housing management and
resident involvement. She currently works for Guinness Care and
Support, a subsidiary of Guinness Trust, managing a range of ‘Extra

the development of services for older people, and SP monitoring and
performance. She retains a longstanding commitment to improving
services for homeless people.

throughout his thirty year career with Royal Sun Alliance,

Since 2003 Graham has built up a portfolio of community investment
involvement, including further education college governance, a

Joanna Davey spent 15 years working with housing
associations in development and management roles, and currently
runs a consultancy that develops people and teams who lead
organisations with a particular focus on governance and strategic

Anchor Trust. Joanna has been an independent Board member of Somer
Community Housing Trust and Somer Housing Group. She holds an
honours degree in geography, a masters degree in town planning and
is a trained mediator.
Richard Dyson
Richard Dyson is a Chartered Civil Engineer. His
career in the water industry included engineering, contracts and
asset management, followed by ten years in business audit,
involving efficiency reviews and audits across the business. He

graduating from Bristol University. He joined the Shape Board in
1986 and served as Chair for ten years. Forbes currently works as a
specialist caseworker in housing law at Wiltshire Law Centre.
Craig Whittock
Craig Whittock lived at Pathways for two years and is
currently a resident at Caroline House. He studies music at college
and works voluntarily with the Democratic Action for BANES Youth
(DAFBY) and a number of other organisations. Craig has become a
Board member because he believes that at least one resident should
be on the Board to give a resident’s input and to gain experience
of Board meetings.
There is one vacant position on the
Board.
