Heating partnership set up to improve hundreds of Redland
Housing Association homes
7th September 2009
A new partnership of housing associations and
contractors is to deliver around £10million improvements over the
next five years. Work has now officially started, and was marked by
the signing of a partnership charter between the members.
Redland Housing Association has joined forces with Somer
Community Housing Trust (another member of Somer Housing Group) to
create the Somer Housing Group Heating Partnership.
Together, they have selected three contractors to join the
partnership after a rigorous selection process. They are Morrison,
which will complete works for Redland, and Connaught and Rok, which
will oversee improvements to Trust homes.
All the contractors are committed to fully involving residents
throughout the project and have their own Tenant Liaison Officers,
who will work closely with residents to make sure the installation
and replacement of heating systems runs as smoothly as
possible.
Morrison will be carrying out heating installations and boiler
replacements for Redland over the next five years. They will focus
on replacing older and less efficient heating systems. In addition,
they will be carrying out the servicing and maintenance of current
and new gas heating systems.
Mark Waterhouse, Morrison’s Partnering Director, said:
‘The Heating Partnership is a unique
initiative, which will benefit numerous residents across a wide
geographical area and we are very proud to have been chosen to
carryout this work. Once completed, Redland’s residents will
benefit from more efficient and cost-effective heating systems,
which should make a considerable difference particularly during the
expensive winter months.’
Fay Gorick, Redland’s Technical Manager, said:
‘We are pleased that Morrison working with us
to continue the ongoing programme of improvements to our homes.
Residents have been involved in the selection process to find a
company that will give us good value for money and take a good
approach to working with residents.'
