Homeowners
We provide services for a range of different
homeowners.
These include:
- leaseholders of flats;
- freehold owners of houses;
- shared owners;
- properties which have been sold under the right to buy;
and
- properties which have been built for sale.
The type of services that we provide will vary from one to
another. In all cases, a legal document (either the lease or the
transfer) will explain what service we provide and how owners pay
for them. We have also produced a handbook for homeowners which
explains this in plain English, which you can download
opposite.
We send service charge accounts to all owners once a year. These
set out how your service charge has been calculated and what we
expect to spend in the coming year.
Service charges (and shared owners’ rents) can be paid by any of
the methods that tenants use to pay rent (link to paying your rent)
but most owners prefer to pay by standing order and we will send
out a form to do this with the accounts each year.
The Leasehold Advisory Service has an independent website which
gives advice to homeowners and service charge payers:

Homeowners' focus group
The focus group is made up of staff and residents. Its role is
to set service standards and monitor them. The group also gets
involved with how we collect information on satisfaction levels as
well as with policy changes, areas of persistent complaint and
new developments.
