How to pay your rent

Paying your rent

Your rent is due for the week ahead and you should pay it either on a Monday, or any time during the previous week. If you pay each month you should make your payment at or before the start of the month which the rent covers.

You can pay your rent in any of the following ways:

  • Online, using the link opposite. Ask us for a payment card.
  • At a post office. Ask us for a payment card.
  • At a bank. Ask us for a paying-in book.
  • By standing order. Ask us for a form which you fill in and send to your bank.
  • By post. But, in your own interests, please do not send cash.
  • At our office. Call at any time during office hours.
  • By phone, using a debit card. Ask us for details.
  • By direct Housing Benefit payment. Your local authority can pay your Housing Benefit direct to us. Ask us or your local authority to arrange this. Any Supporting People grant will automatically be paid direct to us.

What do I do if I have difficulty paying my rent?

Firstly, you may be entitled to Housing Benefit from your local authority to help with your rent. Whether or not you are entitled to Housing Benefit will depend on your income, the number of people living with you, and how much rent you have to pay. If you think you might be entitled to Housing Benefit, or you can't afford your rent, ask us or your local authority for details of Housing Benefit.

If you are finding it difficult to pay your rent, please contact us as quickly as possible. It is much easier for us to help you if you contat us before you owe a low of rent.
