Sheltered Housing

Sheltered Housing is housing which is designed to help older people and those with age-related support needs to live an independent life in their own home.

It provides you with the support and reassurance of a sheltered housing officer and an emergency alarm system.

It is not a residential care home; you are free to come and go as you please, to have visitors as you please, to have your own possessions and to be as independent as you please.

Your flat is your home - you are entitled to complete privacy and you are responsible for your own housework, cooking, decoration and furnishing. It should also be a community, where residents are encouraged not only to do things for themselves but for neighbours as well.

Supported housing focus group

The focus group is made up of staff and residents. Its role is to set service standards and monitor them. The group also gets involved with how we collect information on satisfaction levels as well as with policy changes, areas of persistent complaint and new developments.
