Direct lets

'Direct to Let' Properties (DTL) are homes, which have:

  • been void in excess of six weeks;
  • attracted three or more refusals;
  • no transfer or waiting list demand; or
  • been a property or property type which has proved difficult to let in the past.

These properties are advertised in the local paper. Preference is given to applicants whose permanent household make-up matches the profile of the property.  Preference will also be given to applicants who can commit to making a positive contribution to the community and to the applicant who was first to express an interest in that property.

Where no applicant is offered the property as a result of this, the process will begin again, this time we can allow the property to be under occupied.

Current Somer tenants cannot apply for direct let properties.
