Direct lets
'Direct to Let' Properties (DTL) are homes, which have:
- been void in excess of six weeks;
- attracted three or more refusals;
- no transfer or waiting list demand; or
- been a property or property type which has proved difficult to
let in the past.
These properties are advertised in the local paper. Preference
is given to applicants whose permanent household make-up matches
the profile of the property. Preference will also be given to
applicants who can commit to making a positive contribution to the
community and to the applicant who was first to express an interest
in that property.
Where no applicant is offered the property as a result of this,
the process will begin again, this time we can allow the property
to be under occupied.
Current Somer tenants cannot apply for direct let
properties.
