Anti-social behaviour injunction granted
28th March 2008
Somer Community Housing Trust has shown its
determination to tackle anti-social behaviour and nuisance in the
community of Avon Court, Batheaston, by obtaining an anti-social
behaviour injunction.
The order was made on 28th February 2008 at Bath County Court
against Steven Wall of no fixed abode. The order was served on Mr
Wall on 4th March and runs for a period of 12 months.
The judge found that he had caused significant anti-social
behaviour problems to the residents of Avon Court Sheltered Housing
Complex and that an injunction was necessary for their protection,
together with that of any person wishing to carry out their lawful
working duties.
The injunction prohibits Mr Wall from using threatening words or
behaviour, or engaging in any conduct that is likely to cause a
nuisance or annoyance to any person in the locality, including
Trust staff.
The court also put in place an exclusion order preventing Mr Wall
from entering Coalpit Road, up to and including Avon Court and the
sheltered housing complex. If Mr Wall breaches this order, he can
be arrested by police and brought back before the courts.
Julie Evans, Director of Customer Services (Housing and
Support), said:
‘This order demonstrates the Trust’s
commitment to tackling problems of anti-social behaviour. We would
like to thank the many residents of Avon Court and the local
police, who worked with the Trust in taking this legal action. The
successful outcome to this case demonstrates the importance of such
joint working. We hope that the residents of Avon Court can now
enjoy their homes without fear or concerns of further
problems.’
