Being a tenant of Somer Community Housing Trust

We will explain your rights and responsibilities as a tenant so that you can enjoy living in your home and community. If things go wrong we will work with you to put them right. If things change we will always involve you in planning and implementing the changes as much as we can.

Our commitment:

When you become a tenant of the Trust:

  • We will tell you your rights and responsibilities as Trust tenant.
  • We will consult with you on significant changes that may affect you, especially those relating to your tenancy agreement.
  • We will respond to all property alteration requests with a decision within 28 days.
  • We will respond to all mutual exchange and succession requests with a decision within 28 days.
  • We will respond to reports of alleged tenancy breaches and investigate within 10 working days and inform the findings to the person reporting the information.
  • Where tenants have breached their tenancy obligations we will discuss with the tenant the actions required of them and agree appropriate timescales.
  • We will respond to reports of abandoned properties and illegal occupation within 10 working days and inform the findings to the person reporting the information.
