Deep Clean, Keep Clean

Bath & North East Somerset Council has started 'Deep Clean, Keep Clean' operations in its wards, in addition to the very successful Environmental Action Days already taking place.

They bring together representatives of various agencies, to improve the environment and conditions in each area, thereby enhancing the quality of life for local residents.

DCKCs include a range of intensive actions over a four-day period, such as:

  • Verges/grassed areas cut; (within 30 mph zones).
  • Graffiti/fly-posting cleaned.
  • Street lights serviced/repaired
  • New litter bins installed.
  • Cleaning of street furniture.
  • Removal of litter/fly-tipping.
  • Use of chewing gum removal machines.
  • Abandoned cars reported.
  • Promotion of recycling (bulk refuse) service.
  • Play area refurbishments.
  • Community wood tidying etc.
  • Advice given on tidying private land.
  • Gutters thoroughly swept, drains and gulleys cleared.
  • Ornamental bedding areas tidied/planted-up.
  • Highway issues investigated and resolved if feasible.
  • Advice on insulation.
  • Advice on fire safety.
  • Free bulky waste collection.
  • Advice on debt payment.

This has been a popular initiative among ward councillors, local residents and community groups who have participated fully in a complete clean and tidy-up of an area.
