Bulk refuse and fly-tipping

We remove approximately 2,000 tons of bulk household rubbish per annum dumped on our land and in bin rooms.

To attempt to reduce this, we are working with the Sofa Project to set up a number of dry areas where items suitable for reuse can be left and are collected by the Sofa Project.

In conjunction with Bath & North East Somerset Council, we are improving the refuse arrangements at blocks of flats from individual bins and internal bin areas to central external collection compounds, incorporating wheelie bins. This reduces litter and is far more hygienic.

These have recently been provided at Walnut Buildings Radstock; Woodside, Midsomer Norton; Conygre Green, Timsbury; Snow Hill; Sherwood Road, Keynsham; and Great Stanhope Street, Bath and are proving successful in keeping the estates cleaner. We have also removed 319 refrigerators from Trust land in the last year.

The Trust also has a responsibility for sweeping approximately 140km of unadopted footpaths, garage forecourts and other hard surfaced communal areas on our land.
