Make a house your home

Mr and Mrs Eddolls and their two daughters had been renting a two bedroom flat from Bristol City Council since 2004. They didn’t think they would ever own their own home.

Eddolls familyLast November, Mrs Eddolls was at work when one of her colleagues told her about the properties we were selling at Hareclive Road, Mrs Eddolls got the website address to have a look at the details when she got home and after having a look Mr and Mrs Eddolls decided to submit an application.

The properties were also the first in the city to be certified as 'excellent' Eco Homes, meaning they are more environmentally-friendly and cheaper to run.

The Eddolls decided to go ahead and purchase one of these properties as they were in the area that they had always lived (Hartcliffe) and for the first time they had found a property that was going to be affordable for them. The fact that it was a brand new house just completely swung it for them.

When speaking to Mrs Eddolls, we asked her how things had changed and how she feels now that they have a home of their own and Bethany (aged five) and Keira (aged one) have their own space to play in.

‘It’s great, we used to be out a lot when we were in the flat, and I never really looked forward to going back there. Things are completely different now. We have a garden which is excellent and the children absolutely love, they have taken it over with their slide, swing and other toys.

'We are just so pleased with our new home; this has completely changed our lives. It’s really hard to explain but as I was saying to my husband, this house actually feels like our home already and we’ve only been here just over a month. Where we were living before was exactly that ‘somewhere to live’, it never felt like home, not like this. We really are so happy now.’
