Katie and Nick move in
Katie and Nick purchased a 50% share in a 2
bedroom apartment at The Hexagon in 2006. Katie worked at the Royal
United Hospital as a Staff Nurse and was required to work varying
shift patterns including nights and is on call once a month.
Katie and Nick were desperate to get onto the housing
ladder; they originally started their search into home ownership
about two years ago. Although Katie and Nick were both working full
time and were on reasonable wages, they couldn’t find any
properties in Bath that they could afford to buy. They were keen to
buy a house in Bath, as they both worked in the city and had family
and friends in the area too.
Katie first heard about New Build HomeBuy through a friend at
work. After investigating, they realised that this was the solution
they needed in order to own a home in Bath.
Katie and Nick registered their interest with Bath and North
East Somerset Council and later with the HomeBuy Agent. In January
2006 they started planning their wedding and were understandably
eager to start married life off in a home of their own.
As they hadn’t heard of any shared ownership developments in the
area, they were starting to think that they were going to have to
look at properties outside Bath. But in the summer of 2006 Katie
and Nick were delighted to receive a letter from Somer Housing
Group which told them about our shared ownership properties at The
Hexagon.
Katie and Nick got married in November 2006 and in December they
got their keys to their new apartment.
'We’re really, really happy here. It’s in
Bath where we really wanted to purchase and it is a really big
apartment; we couldn’t be happier!'
