Bristol partners up for tenants
Redland Housing Association has been working with
the Bristol Housing Partnership throughout 2011 to put on a series
of events for residents. The events support residents to discuss
important issues and learn about how housing providers in the city
work together to benefit residents across Bristol.
In June 2011, the Bristol Housing Partnership for Tenants
put on an event for residents across the city to come together and
learn more about the Partnership and how housing providers in the
city work together to benefit residents across Bristol.

The event, run with the support of Redland, included sessions on
anti-social behaviour and restorative justice, with advice on
resolving issues with neighbours, an update on changes in local
policing, and a session called Warming Bristol Communities which
gave tenants insights into energy bills and saving energy and
money.

There was a mixture of presentations from guest speakers with
the opportunity to ask questions, and some interactive games and
workshops which helped residents to identify their priorities to
work together on going into the future. The day also included a
fabulous free lunch and a free crèche service for residents with
young children. Over 50 residents came along, and the feedback
showed it to be an informative and enjoyable day with 100% of
residents saying they would recommend this event to a friend.
“I enjoyed it very much – found it so
important” said one resident; another described the day as “very
educational and informative”.
Claire Johnstone at Redland is co-ordinating the working group
for the partnership. She will be happy to provide information, book
a place or accept offers of help.
