Older Persons’ Service
is ‘A’ OK
Residents and staff of Somer’s Older Persons’
service have been celebrating a high level of success in a recent
inspection of our service by Adult Social Care Commissioners in
Bath & North East Somerset.
In November 2011, supporting people review
staff met with residents, front-line sheltered housing officers and
team leaders and said they were “very impressed with what they
saw and experienced.”

They awarded Somer’s Older Persons’ Service an
‘A’ in the Quality Assessment Framework for the two areas they
reviewed at their visit of safeguarding and support planning and
needs assessment.
Harriet Bosnell, Older Persons’ Housing and
Support Manager, said “we are all really proud of the service
we offer to residents and older people in the community alike.
Staff and residents work closely together to create the level
of service we would all wish to experience in our later
years.”
Somer was commended for the effectiveness and
warmth of the service it offers to people living in sheltered
accommodation.
Somer has recently extended its valued Older
Persons’ Service to support people living in their own homes in the
community through the Independent Living Service. This service
provides daily, weekly and twenty-four-hour response via a
push-button alarm and visits from our caring professional staff at
the level of service people want.
